Hispanic Scholarship Fund-

The application opens January 1, 2018 and closes March 31, 2018. Scholarship recipients will be selected in June, 2018. For more information visit hsf.net.

 

 

College Counts Scholarship-

Applications for seniors going to college fall 2018 will be accepted December 1, 2017 through March 1, 2018.

Pick up an information card from Mrs. Beason and follow the directions. You can also go to treasury.alabama.gov/collegecounts-scholarship.

 

 

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program-

·         Demonstrate financial need

·         Plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business with an interest in the automotive community

Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Scholarship Program-

·         To be eligible for program a student must be a graduating Alabama high school senior

·         Living in or attending high school in Jefferson County and

·         Planning to enroll full-time at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school by fall 2018.

·         Applications are available on the website www.mbusi.com. Located under “About MBUSI”>”Corporate Info”>”Scholarships”

·         Application postmark deadline is March 15th

·         Must be a completed application with transcript to be considered

 

 

Jefferson State Community College Academic Scholarship-

            To be eligible students must have:

·         A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater at the end of the first semester of their senior year

·         An ACT score of 22 or higher

·         U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency Status

·         Complete and admissions application to Jefferson State

Students may visit http://www.jeffersonstate.edu/financial-aid/scholarships/ to obtain a 2018-19 High School Academic Scholarship application.

A completed application packet should be submitted to the financial aid office no later than March 1st.

 

Jefferson State Community College Ambassador Scholarship-

            To be eligible students must have:

·         U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency Status

·         Must enroll as a full-time student each semester (complete a total of 24 hours for the fall and spring semesters combined)

·         Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA

·         Abide by the Ambassador Code of Conduct and Demerit System

Deadline for submission of all required documents is March 2nd @ 4:00pm

Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union Scholarship-

Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school students who are credit union   members and planning to pursue post-secondary education in the fall of 2018. Eligible applicants must exemplify credit union values of personal and civic responsibility through their grades, extracurricular activities, essay responses, letter(s) of recommendation, and/or community service.

The deadline for application is Friday, April 6th.

eCOCredit Union A.L. Bratcher Scholarship-

            Scholarship Eligibility:

·         Must be/or become a member of eCO Credit Union, with their account in good standing. Applicant must become a member no later than March 9th.

·         Must be a senior in high school who will be enrolled or plan to be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study during the 2018-19 academic school year at an accredited 2-or 4- year college, university, or vocation-technical college in the U.S.

Scholarship applications and documentation must be completed in full and returned to the credit union by March 9th to be considered.

UAB Alabama Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (ALSAMP)-

            June 1- August 10, 2018 (10 weeks)

The ALSAMP Summer Bridge Program is a 10- week academic opportunity funded by the National Science Foundation for underrepresented minority students accepted  to UAB that plan to major in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) for the fall of 2018 at UAB.

Eligible students must:

·         Be an underrepresented minority 2018 high school graduate

·         Be accepted to UAB for the 2018 Fall Semester

·         Declare a university major in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM)

·         Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or greater

·         Have an ACT score of 20 or greater

·         Submit a completed ALSAMP Summer Bridge Application on or before Friday, April 20th

Birmingham Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

T.L. Hale Scholarship-

This scholarship is need-based and is awarded annually to graduating senior students from Jefferson County area school who matriculate toward a college degree.  Seek to identify and recognize students with good character, community focused, and good academic credentials.

·         Completed application package- applications available in the scholarship file in the library

·         500 word essay

·         The deadline for submission is March 18th

 

 

The Birmingham Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Scholarship-

Scholarship is restricted to students who attend a civil engineering program at a university or college in Alabama

·         Applications are available in the scholarship file in the library

·         The application deadline is March 31st

 

 

 

 

The Birmingham Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) Scholarship-

·         The student must have an unweighted academic average “B” or better (3.0 on a 4.0 scale).

·         The student must be a graduating high school senior who intends to enroll the next semester following high school graduation in an accredited college or university.

·         The student must plan to major in business, one of the physical sciences, technology, engineering or mathematic fields in preparation for a career in the energy sector.

·         The student must be one of the historically underrepresented minorities in the sciences, technology, engineering and math related disciplines. (African American, Hispanic or Native American)

·         Applications are available in the scholarship file in the library

·         Completed application package with essay must be postmarked no later than March 15th.

 

Central Alabama Community College Ambassador Scholarship-

·         Students are required to have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

·         Minimum ACT score of 20

·         Applicants are evaluated on the completed scholarship application, evidence of leadership potential, school/civic/community engagement, and interviews.

·         Application packet must be received by 4:00 PM, March 1st.

·         Applications are available in the scholarship drawer in the library

 

Central Alabama Community College Scholarships-

·       Presidential Honors- minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA with a minimum 24 ACT score

·       Academic Excellence- minimum of 3.25 cumulative with a minimum 20 ACT score

·       Performing Arts- minimum of 2.5 GPA with an audition

·       Career Technical Honors- minimum of 2.50 GPA; must declare a career/technical program

·       Application packets must be received by 4:00 PM on March 1st

·         Application are available in the scholarship drawer in the library

 

 

 

 

 

Birmingham Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity T. L. Hale Scholarship-

·         Potential candidates should complete the application along with a 500 word essay describing the importance of leadership and community service

Other Opportunities

Distinguished Young Women Program-

            Is a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments?

·        Current high school junior girls and who are residents of Jefferson County.

·        The program will be held July 20 &21, 2018 at Vestavia Hills High School, with rehearsals being held July 12-July 19.
